Touch is part cross-cultural romance across the decades, part reflection on the post-Hiroshima world of Japanese immigration, about 20 years after the bomb was dropped, destroying the city.
Though 3/4 of the touching love story takes place inside a Japanese restaurant in London's 'swinging '60's', featuring actors Palmi Kormakur and Koki as the young lovers, we also follow an older Icelandic gentleman (Egill Olafsson) on a search for answers to a dilemma he faced in his youth. His journey begins just when the world is shutting down for covid.
The use of 'masks', both emotional and paper, is delicately used by Director Baltasar Kormakur, to tie together the dual love stories.
Featuring an extremely likeable cast of faces generally unknown to American audiences, Touch had a brief run in theaters this year and is currently available on streaming services. It's worth your while to seek it out.
